These are all old strong programs,I'd be interested to know their ratings if some of the testers have run the tournament manually?
If no one has the source to old tests and datas, estimated ratings of these engines would be appreciated.
Centaur
Sargon
Mchess Pro
Kallisto
Siberian Chess
Virtual Chess
Socrates
Jester, the strong Java program
Thanks in advance.

Cca 1998:
Siberian 2.15 - Genius 5 1.0:5.0 (0:4=2).
Kallisto 1.82 - Hiarcs 4 1.0:5.0 (0:4=2).
M-Chess Pro 6 - WChess 1.04 3.5:2.5 (2:1=3)
486/100MHz, one CPU - task Win3.1 or FastFlip. Tournament time, 2h/40moves
Siberian - good Pirc defence, won from Rebel Decade 1.2 and remis from Rebel 8. Weak in close position. Loss, probably Eugene created new UCI
.
Kallisto - very poor endings, weak in black. Interesting attacker program, wait to new UCI
.
Sargon 5 - max. 2000ELO, probably less.
M-Chess Pro 6 - killer book (from Hiarcs or W-Chess even 35 moves .., but whitout average.

Re: Any Ratings for these Chess Programs?
Hi Swami,
I've tried to test Virtual Chess 2 but stopped the testing as it occupies the processor when it's the turn of the opponent, the same way as Crafty....
A very entertaining playing style though....

Re: Any Ratings for these Chess Programs?
Versions of Mchess and Kallisto, and Socrates 3.0 are included in the full text version of the SSDF ratings:
http://ssdf.bosjo.net/rlwww072.txt
Some years ago, I did run a shuffle chess tournament where Sargon V, Socrates 3.0 and Kallisto '97 played against various chess computers:
http://members.aon.at/computerschach/ol ... dies2d.htm
I also remember Siberian Chess 1.06 which I reviewed for CSS, and Virtua(l) Chess. They were quite good, but I have no ratings based on good data material.

Re: Any Ratings for these Chess Programs?
Thanks for all the responses, guys, I find them interesting, much appreciated!
so,Mchess Pro is the strongest of them all?followed by kallisto from these sources.IIRC Virtual chess finished in the top few in some official events, so I'd guess it is around 2400 already?
Thanks.

Re: Any Ratings for these Chess Programs?
Yes,definitely especially when it comes to Virtual Chess II,but this annoying problem of occupying the cpu during the opponent's moveswami wrote:Thanks for all the responses, guys, I find them interesting, much appreciated!
