Reminds me of a snippet from a song:
MINSTREL (singing): Brave Sir Robin ran away
ROBIN: No!
MINSTREL (singing): Bravely ran away away
ROBIN: I didn't!
MINSTREL (singing): When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled
ROBIN: No!
MINSTREL (singing): Yes Brave Sir Robin turned about
ROBIN: I didn't!
MINSTREL (singing): And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
ROBIN: I never did!
MINSTREL (singing): He beat a very brave retreat
ROBIN: Oh, lie!
MINSTREL (singing): Bravest of the brave Sir Robin
ROBIN: I never!
This isn't new. What was the last year you noticed Fritz participating in a major computer tournament? The last World Championship participation was 2003, the last time Fritz played in Paderborn was 2004.
I am not sure about the Dutch tournaments, but I don'T recall Fritz(=Quest) from recent years. Fritz was World Champion only once, in Hongkong 1995. - I guess they got tired of not winning, through the following years.

I think the main reason is that they don't have a competitve product. Fritz 11 is single core and really ... against all those MP engines it would not be a fair match. Now if DF 11 was there then we can talk.

It would be silly for them to keep a seperate source code for single and MP versions of Fritz. There is already a multi processor version of Fritz, they just havent released it yet, or so I would think. I do not know of many programmers who keeps different sources, it would be redundant.
