Christophe Theron has not been active here for months as far as i can see, though in his last posts seeming very engaged in engine improvement stuff. Has anyone heard of him or of prospects of a new Tiger?

Haven't heard anything. Let's hope new improvements include SMP support and at least a 100 Elo improvement - without sacrificing style.

Exactly, my hope is that CT is using his radio silence to carefully investigate and implement the right MP support for the beast.

Didnt he say that he wont be implementing MP support until his program gets back in top rankings?Kaj Soderberg wrote:Exactly, my hope is that CT is using his radio silence to carefully investigate and implement the right MP support for the beast.

Yep, and with some engine improvements (i, for one, already pointed out to him a couple of areas of improvement) and MP support, we are discussing a 2900+ machine on CCRL scale. Should be good enough for the first MP version!?

Kaj

Chess Tiger has a way to go Elo-wise, but it is still a fun playing partner. Right now, none of the engine room addicts would pay it any mind, but for folks trying to improve their chess, it is more than good enough.
CT finally gave the computer chess world UCI support for Tiger, so hopefully he'll have a successful jump to SMP support, too.

Re: Chess Tiger 2008?
Doesn't this clearly indicate Fritz 11 as beingthe strongest under Rybka?
(not Shredder as the place 7 is deep, and place 10 is MP of Hiarcs).

This is why I am waiting for Deep Fritz 11. It will be interesting to see how many Elo it picks up over its single-threaded brother.S.Taylor wrote:Doesn't this clearly indicate Fritz 11 as beingthe strongest under Rybka?

Re: Chess Tiger 2008?
I wonder when Deep Fritz 11 will be released? Somewhere I read that it is going to be March 2008, is this true? Speaking of releases, when will wee see Rybka 3.0?This is why I am waiting for Deep Fritz 11

Re: Chess Tiger 2008?
Ah, Per. Now the game of thrones gets to be played. I heard DF11 is a March event. Also, I think Rybka is due out around that time. Naum's new release will be around the same time.Yarget wrote:I wonder when Deep Fritz 11 will be released? Somewhere I read that it is going to be March 2008, is this true?
