West - East Computer Chess match results

Post by CRoberson »

The East won with a score of 11 to 7.
The results and pgns are at

There were several great games including the last game between
Rybka and Naum. At one point (late in game), both engines were
claiming a score of 0 in a very dynamic position but they pressed on.
Eventually, Naum announced mate in 53.

A tough day for the West. Telepath (vs. Oxygen) was the only board that the West won, and the only drawn matches were Buzz (vs. Joker) and LearningLemming (vs. DIEP). Overall a fun event though...nice long games compared to most tournaments and an incredibly good ratio of program author participation vs. operator. Also some very good sportsmanship displayed, with Oxygen getting a game despite being 2 1/2 hours late, and Naum generously logging back in to finish its game vs. Rybka after a 2 hour disconnection due to power outages.

I blame the loss of west on Richard Pijl. How dare he compete with two of the best engines in the same tournament? I think that west should be allowed to have two Rybkas.
