Arasan-Crafty, CCT10 (round 4)

Post by jdart »

It looked like Arasan had a superior position early in this game. I haven't done a deep analysis, but at move 30:

[d] 3rr1k1/Q4ppp/2R2n2/p6q/4p3/1P4PP/P4PB1/2R3K1 w - - 0 28

Shredder & Fritz prefer Bf1, followed by .. Rxc2 31. Bxe2 Rxc1+, heading into an endgame with QB vs RRN.

Later on, Shredder seems to think Arasan had drawing chances at move 37:

[d] 1QR1n1k1/5p2/7p/p5p1/8/PP2r1PP/6BK/4q3 w - g6 0 37

with b4 or Rc5 .. Arasan played Rd8 here.

Hello Jon,

I think that looking a bit deeper it would not have made much difference if Arasan had chosen 30. Bf1

Shredder 11 thinks both moves are about equal after a while. At 14 ply 30. Bf1 is +0.79 but after that it is falling towards zero:

Tomorrow Arasan plays Berta by Felix Schmenger in Round 5 I see, that is a totally new name for me!

Berta has been active on ICC for quite some time.
