CCT10 Update Fruit Lost
Round 2 many were surprise about the lost of fruit. What actually happened was the system did not crash the operator and the program crashed. We were in a scramble the last few days trying to get things ready for tourney. I got a version of fruit that had an endgame bug. The bug was fixed but when i tested it I notice that it crashed. So I was given another version but did not have time to test it. While the CCT10 Tournament was in place. I was testing this new version on playchess on another one of my systems. I notice that every game it crashed a 3 - 0 time control. I told Ryan about the but, and indicated that fruit will most likely crash this game. Well, sure thing it crashed once we reached the place where it had to access the egtb. But, at that time I crashed also, I had only had 4 hours of sleep in the past 4 days. I doze off right at the time fruit crashed. When i awoke fruit time was gone. Ryan since then has fixed the error and the tablebase and we seen the results of his work in fruits last two games that showed an excellent understanding of King and pawn positioning ... Well done to all of the Fruit team.

Re: CCT10 Update Fruit Lost
I think that in cases of obvious technical hitches, a re-play should be allowed (judged by adjudicator?), with a monetry compernsation (or "fine") given by the suffering program to the opponents team, of that particular game [atleast covering all expenses and payment for operators extra work hours of opperating the game again]. However, the actual win of the game on technical grounds is less justified. Legally, money alone should be demanded.
If the money is not forthcoming, then that's something else. You can't expect even a weak program to accept loss or e ven a draw, even against a very strong program, because they can always claim they might have won that game. Therefore, here is no alternative than to grant it the game. But still, that team MUST find time for a replay if money is offered, according to tribunal team, or adjudicator.
