New RomiChess released (WBEC site)

Post by Michael Sherwin »

The zip has a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version as well as the source code. Learning and/or the use of it are able to be disabled. See the readme. If someone would do a PGO compile and make it available it would be appreciated!

I am still 'torn' about the open source question, however since, RomiChess is not a top engine and there is a lot of strange ideas in it, I decided to include the source.

Mike you should make the wael deeb learn file available for public as well. I am not sure if you have broken something, after few games Romi is doing horrible against Nano. I hope that the last minute changes that you made after NG9 were productive.

It seems that I always shoot myself (or rather Romi) in the foot just before a big event. If Version P3k is worse, then I suppose that P3l will follow shortly.

I will send the DWD learn.dat file to Leo!

Just how badly is the new Romi doing? My test were very positive!

I dont have enough games to draw any conclusions, but Romi detects cerain attacks very late and lost early in few games against Nano. If you shoot romi, its completely your fault, you are the one who released a completely untested version. We will be able to figure out just how bad the damage is in about a week, when I finish testing this version. Here is a sample game. As you can see I dont have the arena output turned off, and Guenther no longer seems to be around.

Hi Michael,
If someone would do a PGO compile and make it available it would be appreciated!
RomiChess P3k JA Intel Compiler 10 p.g.o
32bit + 64bit + auto-paralellized 2-thread versions.

Hi Michael,

I just read the readme.txt. As a follower of Romichess, it will be sad to hear a last version. Just to show my appreciation, I also did my own comple as the released were quite slow. I didn't know Master Jim already did it as well. I've included builds to run up to Pentium1 to suite majority of users. Many people still love Romichess Mike.

I hope other learning files like from Marc Lacrosse' works in this version. Anyway, have fun with my compile too.

Hi Denis,

I also can't wait to test your builds as well. And thanks for the kind words about RomiChess.

Before RomiChess (and the code samples leading up to RomiChess) I only knew a little basic. I taught myself programming and chess programming at the same time by writing RomiChess. If I can ever 'put down' this Romi, I could be a lot more dangerous on my next one!
