Is there an engine to play the "Can I" variant ?

Post by Vinvin »

I learn this game some years ago :
This game is very similar to chess, except that you have to ask your opponent to make a move, if he accept , you have to play the move, if he refuse you can play an other move of your choice. Remark : If only 1 move is possible , play it without asking.

Example :
player1 : "can I play e4 ?"
Player2 : "no"
Player1 play d4 (for example)
player2 : "can I play Nf6"
Player1 : "yes"
Player2 play Nf6
...

There is very amazing side effects : you can take piece who are defended only 1 time because you can refuse the opponent take your piece.
It's impossible to mate in KRK because you can always refuse the last mating move :)

Is there an engine who play this ???
Thanks !

Sorry, but this is not a classical chess game,it's something else and rather boring....

Can I say that too? If I got it right, then that means that most of the games between players of equal strength will end up in draws.

Yes i knew this game and it's indeed very interesting. In contrast with Wael and Tony i find it not boring at all....

Most probably Zillions of Games can play it....
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

These two,Wael & Tony, are hardcore classical chess freaks....

You're very wrong Tony ! You've to test it at least 10 games to understand it ...

The game would never end Vincent. I will make the move e4, then I will wait for you to ask me every single move possible, and I guess you would play the last possible move. After getting pissed of at me, you will do the same thing, and here it goes, with more possible positions than the molecules in universe (or some junk like that), we could make the game as long as we want it to.

No, you can only disallow one move per turn.
Your beliefs create your reality, so be careful what you wish for.

You didn't read enough carefully : "if he refuse you can play an other move of your choice."
