Normally i can figure this stuff out- but im stumped here. First let me say that i have over 100 Winboard engines loaded in chessbase guis, so i know the process. I use the wb2uci engine file and the wb2uci adapter. Sometimes there is a slight problem, bit i have never run up on this: loads perfectly, thinks perfectly and right on time, ie, good depth and kns and potential lines. ( Boy, i am one dumb bastard- im sure it might help if i mention the engine's name. Its OliThink, either of the last 2 versions, 5.0.8 and 5.0.9) The problem is it never moves. It doesnt just sit there and do nothing like all other engines when you know they arent going to move. It runs thru possible moves and everything to the point you think it is about to move. But it never does. It will just run out of time. This is on like 3 min+ 2sec. blitz, or 40 moves in 4 min. , or any possible time setting. And i have fooled with changing diff. parameter setting till im crazy. (Thankfully there i did not have far to go.) Nothing helps. All this is taking place on an extreme performance dual core Vista. But no other winboard converted to uci has a problem with Vista. And just to be sure, since im networked to a single core XP- i tried it there. Same thing. The ONLY POSSIBLE THING i can come up with is that it will only run on Athlons- unless any of you can help me here.
My second is just a question. I see for Frenzee Feb 08 that the author says this is an FRC engine. That statement can have diff. meanings- depending on your point of view. It can mean it is tough as hell at regular chess, and also plays FRC. But, it could mean that it is especially for FRC, and dont bother with it unless you plan on playing that. Which is it? Thanks much in advance. Because like all my ramblings, you cant read this in 10 seconds. Greatly appreciate any help i can get on these 2 matters.
