How much time does your program need to avoid g4 when you are allowed to use only 5 piece tablebases?
Kxh5 is direct win based on 6 piece tablebases(loss in 54 moves that cannot be draw by the 50 move rule because this is not position when you mate in 4 moves after the conversion.
Rc6 also lead to win based on analysis because white can get tablebase won position against every line
Rybka could not find Kxh5 in a game against naum and played g4 that leads to a draw.

Re: endgame test position
Current Crafty plays Kxh5 after 11 seconds on my laptop without using endgame tables. With the tables it takes much longer as the SATA drive on my laptop is horrible for endgame tables...Uri Blass wrote:[d]8/5pk1/8/6Kp/8/8/2R3Pb/8 w - - 0 48 am g4

Re: endgame test position
This position is very difficult for engines.
Most engines like 1.g4 and those who play 1.Kxh5 don't seem to understand the position ether.
For example Crafty-21.6 plays 1.g4 from depth 16 to depth 18 with a score of +3.05. Then it plays 1.Kxh5 with a score of 3.19. It sticks with 1.Kxh5 up to depth 28. The score is +3.22 from depth 19 to 28.
So IMHO 1.Kxh5 is played by crafty and rybka without understanding the position.
Kind regards
Bernhard

Re: endgame test position
Another explanation is that you use the mp version and not the single version and they produce different analysis(in the game the single version was used)Omega-three wrote:Uri Blass wrote:[d]8/5pk1/8/6Kp/8/8/2R3Pb/8 w - - 0 48 am g4

Note also that you cannot expect to reproduce rybka's moves without clear hash in analysis and my experience from games is that there are moves of rybka that I cannot reproduce in analysis mode if I start from clear hash and these moves can also include mistakes.
Here is analysis by the 32 bit version without tablebases(it seems that you did not use even the 5 piece tablebases)
