Goliath, Gromit, Junior...

Will you ever return? :wink:

Seriously, has anyone heard any recent news of any of these engines or any other I have forgotten that have not come out with an update in some time?

Smarthink 2 will be released this year I'd guess, positive response from Sergei.

Gandalf 7 has been made available to very few testers, and you can get games i think from playchess...not sure when it will be released.

Mchess 8.88 that Thorsten has, uci version of it might even be released one day...not very sooner though.

Ktulu 9 played at CCT 10. Not sure about the release but the author is still working on it, and has not completely given up.

Junior is going uci, thats what has been said in here, maybe the newer version will be released just after WCCC?

Goliath is slower project, but you may get the newer versions someday.

Gromit is now Anaconda, newer version of it will be released after some Paderborn comp chess tournament..

Nimzo, Wchess and Ruffian there will be no updates for these engines anymore, it seems that way because it is rumored that authors have completely stopped the development.

Hi Swami !

1. Gandalf 7 is just the MP version of Gandalf 6-it played in December 2007 in Paderborn without noticeable results;
2.Dr.Chrilly Donninger ( Nimzo ) from Wien works to other projects (was Hydra...............);
3.Per-Ola Valfridsson ( Ruffian) is now interested in bridge not in computer chess;
4.Ktulu9 & SmarThink 2.00 without -at least -2900 Elo hard to be commercial engines !

So think please to Hiarcs 12,Rybka 3,Junior 11,Deep Fritz 11...maybe a
new Loop .
:lol: :lol: :lol:

Glad to see that some of the "oldies" are still alive and kicking :)

I have also heard the new Junior will be published by ICC not chessbase.
Ihmo that's because of Chessbase's policy of releasing engines other than Fritz with the previous version of GUI, and to me that doesn't make any sense at all.

I agree with you totally. I wonder how many people did not buy the Chessbase Shredder for that very fact. Especially when you get buy the UCI version plus an additional GUI.

It looks like Chessbase has lost every other 3rd party engine thta way.
