halftime in the GM tournament in Morella and Linares. It will proceed on February, 28th in Linares. Only Super GM with more than 2700 ELO are participating.
Engines are regrettably not included, but I wanted to see how they would play ply for ply in those games. My goal is not to show the blunders of GM´s here (most of them anyway happening in time trouble), but to compare engine play to Super-GM play and maybe detect if there are engines playing similarly to other engines.
Conditions for this project:
AMD64 x2 4200+ (all quads are busy with Naum 3 tests)
mp Engines 64-bit
Analysis comparison in Zap 64-bit GUI
3 minutes for each engine (calculating one after the other, not at the same time) and for each ply
1024 MB Hash for all 5 men
The following engines analyse each ply:
Rybka 2.3.2a 64 mp
Naum 3 64 mp
Zappa Mexico II 64 mp
Deep Shredder 11 64
Hiarcs 11.2 64 mp
After publication of the Strelka Code I should have taken also Rybka 1.0 beta, but had no fun in doing so.
I have chosen the most interesting games (hope so). Proposals from those following the tournament for games to add can be given. First games are available for download and replay:
http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn/Replay/replay.htm
Updates daily with one more game (every complete analysis lasts around 24 hrs. depending on the length of the games). In progress Carlsen vs. Aronian and Shirov vs. Radjobov.
A comparison after only four games so far shows that it is surprisingly Zappa chosing most moves like Rybka. If we take into account that many moves are forced and look also at the main lines, I think we can luckily see that all engines are quite different from each other. Moreover a lot of different kinds of games (positional, tactical, endgames) would be necessary to draw conclusions here.
Best Regards
