Garbochess 2.02 - need help

Post by Werner »

Hi,
anybody managed to run correct games with this engine. I have a lot of problems - specially against Romichess :D
But it happens too against other engines (not with all moves):
Garbochess moves nearly instantly here.
Conditions are: 40 moves in 15 min, Arena 1.1, Windows xp 64 bit , Garbochess 2.02 64 bit.
Any ideas?

Here is an example:

Werner

Olivier Deville had some trouble with the lattest RomiChess hanging. He added RomiChess to a kill list. That fixed the problem. Maybe Romi was taking time from Garbo.

Ahh, very interesting
I´ll make a log to see which command Romi uses to do that.

A good idea is <Interrupting second 8-) 8-) 8-)

or {Romi says, we're all out of ammo}

PS: with manual uci configuration in Arena 1.99 beta 5 it is a little bit better, but there are still some instand moves from garbochess which help the opponent :-)
So let´s see what Gary finds out.

Hi Werner,

Maybe you have found the problem already? Anyway I copied the pgn at least 5 times before and then forgot to save it before shutting down the computer.

Anyway It looks as though it is a negitive time problem with the 64 bit version of Garbo. The engine corrupts the time sent to it in some way for that TC that causes it to exit on the first(?) node number check.

Sorry, I should have replied to this thread. This was indeed a bug in 2.02. I sent Werner an updated version which fixes the issue, and should be able to release it soon.

Re: Garbochess 2.02 - problem solved - tnx

Hi Michael,
(and Gary)
Yes problem is solved and I am running first matches with version 2.10.

I have made too 50 games with Garbochess 2.02 against Romi. As there is now a newer version and no more games are played with this version I will not send it to CEGT. The result was not good for Romi :-)
