Hiarcs 12 FRC Ratings List update after 500 games

Firstly, on the FRC list, the pure list is the one I strongly recommend people look at. With so many different versions of a small number of engines, this list is likely to give a more reliable rating. It is a separate database with only the strongest versions of each engine.

500 FRC matches have been completed with Hiarcs 12, and it's rating on the pure list is 2919. It replaces Hiarcs 11.1 on the pure list which previously had a rating of 2875. So Hiarcs 12 is approx 44 ELO stronger under these conditions, so far. It is worth noting that on this list, Hiarcs 11.2 was some 20 ELO weaker than Hiarcs 11.1

Hiarcs 12 is in third position behind Shredder 11 and Naum 3. In terms of the bayeselo "likelyhood of superiority" calculation, it is 99.9% certain that Shredder 11 is stronger than Hiarcs 12, and 80.3% certain that Naum 3 x64 is stronger than Hiarcs 12. I don't think that these results necessarily compare well to normal chess - firstly FRC is different, plus there is a somewhat limited range of engines here with a wide ELO range.

Testing is only 50% of the way through, so things can still change. Remaining opponents are Rybka, Sjeng, Glaurung and Movei. The list will be updated again in about 24 hrs.

Being blitz, the default Sharpen PV OFF is used.

I'm really happy to have bought Hiarcs 12. It is an impressive engine, and living in England its nice to support home grown products, and Mark in particular.

Hiarcs is a consistent engine, it only gets about 40 point increase per series. Not necessarily a bad thing considering that it still has a style of its own.

Lets see what happens in normal chess. This list is somewhat unique. Sometimes it corresponds very well to normal chess and sometimes not. I'd like to see it do better on our 40/40 list
