Amazing e6!!

Post by AdminX »

How long to till your engine see's e6!!

[d]3r2k1/5qp1/p1R4p/3pP2r/3Q4/4B1Pb/PP3P1P/2R3K1 w - - 0 26

The positionis from a game I played on playchess. I had white in this position playing a player by the handle of ConcinaVenezuela. White's position is solid and the simple f4 should win. However it is right here that I blundered into this great move (26. e6!!) which wins. Here I wrongly thought the simple 26. ... Qf3 should win for black. However in post game analysis with Rybka 2.3.2.a MP, I found out that White has a forced Mate in 8. Below is the complete game:

[Event "Rated game, 15m + 3s"]
[Site "Main Playing Hall"]
[Date "2008.04.05"]
[Round "?"]
[White "NYTed"]
[Black "ConcinaVenezuela"]
[Result "1-0"]
[ECO "C67"]
[WhiteElo "2017"]
[BlackElo "2057"]
[PlyCount "55"]
[EventDate "2008.04.05"]

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nf6 4. O-O Nxe4 5. d4 Bd6 6. Bxc6 bxc6 7. Re1 f5 8.
dxe5 Bc5 9. Nd4 d5 10. Nc3 O-O 11. Be3 Bxd4 12. Bxd4 c5 13. Nxe4 fxe4 14. Bxc5
Rf5 15. Rxe4 Be6 16. Re1 Qg5 17. Be3 Qg6 18. Qd4 Rh5 19. Rac1 Rd8 20. c4 c6 21.
cxd5 cxd5 22. Rc7 Bh3 23. g3 a6 24. Rec1 h6 25. R7c6 Qf7 26. e6 Qe7 27. Rc7 Qd6

Thanks Ted,a great game :D
This is indeed a grandmaster move even more considering the fast time control....
If you listen to my advice, organaize tournament of several engines at home including yourself in after you pick the right category regarding strength like I do when i have time....

So there is no win for White after "e6!!"?
(I mean, I don't see it, unless it is .....qf3 qxp+ Kxq etc, after which I don't imagine a win).

Well there was a win for Black, but he missed it ... One good blunder deserves another I always say! But really e6!! was just and Amazing Blunder on my part. I was just lucky to win the game afterward.

Of course e6? is a blunder and leads to a -M8 which means Black wins in 8.But why can't Black also play Bxe6.It looks ok to me but White is still clearly better.
