OliThink 5.1.3 released

Post by OliverBr »

Download as usual at:
http://home.arcor.de/dreamlike/chess/index.html

I guess this will be the last release for a long time, because there are lot of other things to do and it seems as it's not easy to improve the strenght of the engine with the same philosophy

Changes since 5.1.2:
Support for opening books, including a small one
Parsing of PGN Moves
Minor restructure in quiesce, thus increasing strength

I received an email for instruction to create/expand an opening book for OliThink:

You can easily create you own opening book or expand the existing book. You just have to add the opening in pgn format. You need to specifiy whether line is for white or for black. This is eaisly down by writing or "[White OliThink]" or "[Black OliThink]" before the opening. The opening must be in one line and end with an asterisk (*).

You have to note that you should only add openings that fit to the own style of play of OliThink. I have done this by just adding openings from wins of OliThink against strong machines like Glaurung, Toga and Crafty.

I hope this helped you.
