King in the center of the board. Man versus machine puzzle

Post by Father »

Fritz 11: 15.3 ply; 1.551kN/s AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+, (2 threads) :D :D :D

FRITZ 11

Where Hecules is? He is in the center of the board.
Looks as one of the most extrange puzzle ever, in man versus machine.

What a hell is doing the black King there? Is it just waiting to the final sentence.....

Then....the black King was destroyed.....

With best respect,

Father

The position is dead drawn, so what's the point?

Does that mean an average lag of 0.6 seconds? Multiply that by 144 moves and it gives a 86.4 seconds handicap. Or 172.8 seconds handicap if the opponent wasn't lagging much and most of the lag was Pablo's (So it's 86.4-172.8 seconds.)

The point is that Pablo managed to create a drawn position against one of the top programs, Fritz 11 on a very fast hardware.
So he proved that machines are still not invincible by us humans.

A note to father: The fact that hardware had 2 threads, is irrelevant, since Fritz 11 used only 1.
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Agreed. And to proclaim victory in games that are only draws at best, is somewhat disingenuous.
