Thinker 5.1 D Passive 32 bit

Post by Sylwy »

Hi all !

I tested Thinker 5.1 D Passive 32 bit on Fritz 11 GUI. I have a tournament with all strong engines. After 1800 games ( 10'+5",Fritz11.ctg,64MB hash ,Athlon 3800+) this engine is in the same strength zone with Junior 10, Ktulu8 & Glaurung 2.0.1. Very strong in endgames and with a awfully attacking style. I suspect his evaluation function to be a very different one. In a lot of critical positions Thinker 5.1D makes very different moves reported to opponent's PV.
In any case this chess engine has nothing to do with Rybka & Fruit .It's an original works !
The version 5.1D works without any problem in Fritz 11 & Shredder11 GUIs.
Remains a single problem: the PV !
I like a lot this "TAL" chess engine !
Maybe Lance Perkins give us a continuation of his works !

Regards,
Silvian

Yes, that's why Thinker is my favorite chess engine! Way to go! I think that regarding Strength+Playing style, Thinker is about optimal.

The "bug fix" , for lack of a better phrase to use, i would like to see fixed is some output while it is thinking. Thinking lines, Kns ,etc. I am sort of baffled as to why he hasnt fixed that. He has to be able to- as the prior version, 4.7a showed all its output.

Best,
