Questions about Amy

Post by Tony Thomas »

I just saw that there is a version recently compiled by JA and its 0.8. What's the difference between that version and the version compiled by DC 0.87b?? Does anyone know??
Thanks in advance

Hi Tony,
I downloaded the JA version and went through it,it's a little bit faster,but....read the following please:

Integrated database functions (Berkeley db library) have been disabled.
It was making the engine unstable and prone to crashing.
As a consequence, there is no opening book, learning and eco function
support in these builds.

If engine still crashes occasionally, disable tablebase support by
removing the path to the TB's in the '.amyrc' file.
Win32 build definitely needs TB support disabled to work without
crashing.

Jim Ablett.

I download about everything master Jim compile, but this time I'll pass as my Amy works perfectly for me with it's own opening book, good one by the way,and it's learning feature,so....make your choice :!:

I read those things as well. I dont care about the opening book as engines without opening book plays with Ipapyrus.abk..I was wondering if there was any strength difference between the two versions.

I doubt that and if any it will be a minimal difference due to the faster compiling....
