Post by Ponti »

Sorry if this is an old question, but I searched the forum and could not get an answer.
Any help?

Hi
If you have installed F10 and F11 in your computer, when you start ChessBase9 program you can load your engines without any problem.

If you cannot this could be related to the fact that you only implemented the engines and not all the Fritz GUI's.

Maybe it is a directory issue?
I installed Chessbase 9 in c:\Chessbase and Fritz 11 in c:\Chessbase\Fritz11
There are 2 \Engines folders: onde is c:\Chessbase\Engines , the other is just c:\Engines, but there is no Fritz11.eng
There is a Fritz11.engine in c:\Program Files\Common Files\Chessbase\Engines but I can't run or install it in CB9.
There is also another directory for Chessbase files at \My Documents\Chessbase ...
I don`t know why the hell there are so many different directories for the same program...
Yes I have other CB programs installed but all of them are under c:\Chessbase
c:\Chessbase\Fritz8
c:\Chessbase\Fritz10
c:\Chessbase\Shredder9 and so on...

Any help?

Aloisio,

Up to and including Fritz 9 the engine is in:
c:\Program Files\Chessbase\Engines

For Fritz 10 and 11 engines to work they must be in:
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Chessbase\Engines

This is where I have the F10 and F11 engines stored and can access them fine from CB9. The only difference from your set up is that my CB9 is installed in:
c:\Program Files\Chessbase\Chessbase9

I'm not sure if that would make a difference but you could try re-installing CB9 there. Otherwise I know of no reason why you should not be able to load F10 and F11 in CB9 - assuming of course that the engine files are valid and not currupt in some way.
