RoundRobin and ChessGUI

Post by Matthias Gemuh »

RoundRobin in ChessGUI is something else :( , no intension.
I don't know in which ChessGUI version it got broken because I am playing only my giant 600-engine Swiss tournament.
Hi Graham, I now see what you saw, I think, though my test in 0.089 seemed to reveal no bug. Bugfix coming soon.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Soon is now :D .
This version will not finish tournaments started with an earlier version.
It schedules games better and is poised to soon permit things like
replacing/updating/deleting/adding engines during a tournament.

Great stuff. Downloading it now! :D
Next on your to do list once these things are done - can you get rid of the little bit of a ninth column showing at the right hand side of the 8x8 chessboard? Also, could you make the pgn window display the moves plus their evaluations rather than just a record of the moves?

If you want to see scores from white perspective, then download again ;).

I'm interested in actively testing the chessgui!! :)

keep up the good work, Mathias. You are doing much better, don't give up.

Is it possible to have this feature implemented?

count all games as rated games(both tournament and friendly exhibition) . and after each game, engine gain or lose points depending on the result...just a live rating as in internet servers etc the software in it updates ratings every single game.

we don't have to run the elo stat (which is optional, in case for calculating the ratings of all engines in particular tourney) this is distinction between 'permanent display rating' (shows the records of all games played, won and lost, against engines rated around etc) and tournament 'performance rating'

I think it would be better to limit the feature to rated tournaments. User may then flag each tournament as rated if he chooses.
The question is how do we calculate points lost/gained after a game ?

I don't know, Mathias. I suspect Franz Huber, or Remi are the guys to talk to about something related to elo calculations.

But this is the most interesting feature. Live updation of ratings after every match. such is the feature in all the online chess websites but sadly lacking in any chess GUI's. I hope ChessGui has this in the near future.
