I think that the strength of your engine can be greatly improved by adjusting the time usage. Predateur always spends way too much time in the beginning and towards the end of the game moves almost instantly. The low depth moves at the end are hurting the playing strength a lot. Note that I play 1min+1sec time control, and Predateur never loses on time.

back to original question, yes there are numerous engines with that type of problem, smarthink 0.17 for example.
