The only wayI can see myself getting chessbase 10 is if they have 1 billion games in online search database.

Do you know how many of these millions of games are annotated? Also for how long do the updates last until you have to pay for a new version?

Will be interesting to see if their service is comparable in quality to the one provided by Chess Assistant. The last time they tried this, they basically only offered TWIC's games, which is about half the weekly games offered by CA.
e.g. online database accessible for kibitzers.
Another item that has been in CA since 2001. Still, I'm not complaining, eventually they had to include it. Guess all they need now is a full database tree, and the ability to have the tree's stats while kibitizing to start to fully catch up.

What is the online database for kibitzers? Is it like MyInternetKibitzing?

The upgrade price is $130 USD, however ChessbaseUSA is allowing pre-orders for only $100 USD. I just phoned in my Pre-Order.

Frankly I can see no spectacular reason to upgrade from chessbase 8 yet. Am I wrong here? When I bought chessbase 8 I spent more time generating reports comparing stats etc. that I did NOT study chess! The Rybka gui may be taking my money here....hmmmmmmmmm........maybe.

Chessbase 8 does not support UCI engines, probably reason enough to upgrade.

Here is a chart that they (Chessbase) says compares the products

NOTE: Chessbase 9 works on my Vista system, even though they say it is not compatible.
WOW, UCI engine will now work as default engine. That should have been a bug fix, not a feature.
