I do not remember the colors guys, so forgive me.. Game 1 vs Frenzee 0
Even before the game started I knew that I was going to lose, so I didnt pay much attention to the time management problem. As you all can guess, Romi lost..Used Romichess NG12
Game 2 Vs Prophet[/b] 1
Too many things went wrong in this game, Romi came out of the book with a pawn down, showing an eval of +2.00. The weird eval continued, and when I had only 1 minute remaining on the clock, I logged off, deleted the learn.dat, and went back online. I am not really sure what happened, Prophet had clear advantage, and I was talking to James, all of a sudden Romi has an advantage of +6.00, woo-hoo..
Game 3 vs Chessthinkerx 0
This is a game I wish I had won..Romi came out of the book with a good position, the position continued the same until Romi decided to give away her e5 pawn?? and it was lost from there. Even though I lost, Romi put up a good fight. By this time, I was no longer using the new betas, I had started using the tried and true P3k..I was also no longer using the learn.dat which I thought was the cause of the problem, I was using the polyglot book from Oxygenx since he wasnt in the tournament..
Game 4 Vs Matilde 0
I was hoping to win the game againt Matilde, Matilde played really bad in the opening 1..f6?? I guess Romi didnt suck goat in this game, so it ended up losing.
Game 5 vs Noonianchess 1
By this time Robindu had returned, he had a power outage so I could no longer use the polyglot book from him. I talked to Charles, he gave me permission to use the polyglot book from Mark Lacrosse (performance.bin), provided that no one is using it..Romi struggled a bit, but managed to win..
Game 6 vs Horizon 1
As all of you know Horizon is Romi's sparring partner, Romi normally scores about 60% against it. There are times when Horizons mauls romi, but those versions usually lose because they detect the king attacks from Horizon too late..I got the feeling that Horizon was tired, no trademark king attacks. Romi was able to win the game..
Game 7 vs Bertax draw
Berta must be an offspring of father, blocked position with no chance for romi (white) to attack..I had to step out of the house for about 20 minutes because of an emergency, when I came back Romi only had few seconds left on the clock..I closed the connection and rebooted the computer, Romi played well after the return and managed to grab a draw by repetition..
Game 8 vs Petir..
I am not sure what's going on with this game..long story short Petir resigned in an even position..will keep you posted..Whatever the reason it helped my standings, which kind of inhales vigorously, because now I have to play the big boys..

These time problems under Polyglot kind of suck. Still a nice result given the problems and the hardware. Maybe just using winboard with out an opening book would have been better. Too bad that you do not have Olivier Deville's learn file for Romi!

Good point!
But, then it was not Romi messing up. It was caused by using polyglot. Tony was just correcting what went wrong with polyglot.
Hey Tony, best to just use winboard by itself and forget about a book.
If there is a complaint against what was done then we will have to bite the bullet.

I had a chat session with Peter (author of Petir) and he said the engine
resigned. It did so due to a bug. The same bug caused a piece drop in
an earlier round. You were lucky in that the bug caused an even
bigger problem this time.
He and I ran some tests and it seems fixed now, but it may not
be. Only time will tell.
On another note: I can't believe you just publicly announce that
you commited the same rules violation in two rounds in the same day.
The point of the two rules in question is to keep people
from disconnecting when their engine is in trouble and then
reconnecting with another stronger engine that is not
authored by themselves.
In such a scenario, the program in question would come back online
playing much better than when it left. This symptom did happen in your
two violations. I am not saying you cheated as I think you didn't.
But, how can I enforce the rule on others, if I don't to you after you
announced it to the world.
During the course of the tournament, one of the other operator's
asked permission to do something similar and I denied the request due
to the only reason was the program was losing.
What some seem to forget in these cases is this: the tournament is
primarily a programming competition and secondly a chess competition.
That is why it is a tournament for authors and that is why you have
to let the program handle everything other than crash recovery and
the like. Bob even has code to handle crash recovery so he doesn't
have to.
For the sake of tournament integrity, it seems I am forced to impose
a penalty. I will not disqualify Romi from the tournament. I consider that
too drastic given the complete situation (I found out from you).
On the thought that it is a polylgot issue. That doesn't cover all the
bases here. In one case you, deleted the learn.dat file thinking it was
holding you back after the game had started. The learn.dat has
nothing to do with Polyglot; it is a Romi feature. Doing this is allowed
between rounds, but not after a game has started and before the
same game is finished. Notice I said "... after the game has started..."
instead of "... after the round has started...". You can make a change
after the round starts as long as your game hasn't started. But, even
that rule has its limits.
Please provide me with clarification on the Rd 7 statement.
Why did you feel the need to reboot? What was happening
at that point?

Hey Mike, is it possible to implement kibitz? Romi works much better as a winboard engine..
