Well, if you were wondering if 3.x will be better - looks like it will be.
We were told it was a version of 3.x and it finished with 13.5/14
which was 3.5 points ahead of number 2 Sjeng and HIARCS.
Of course Rybka and HIARCS had 8 proc machines. Interestingly,
Deep Sjeng finished tied for 2nd with only a Quad Q6600.
There were a lot of excellent matches and great fun had by all the
authors. We had entries from all around the world:
California -> North Carolina -> Sweden -> South Africa -> India -> Indonesia.
We had our share of excitement and controversy as well as
the standard LIVE tournament amazements. For instance, DIEP had
a commanding lead against Amateur with 8 minutes left on DIEP's clock.
Amateur makes a move and DIEP burns all 8 minutes without making
a move while Vincent was away cooking spaghetti.
Our commentator (John Timmel) did an excellent job keeping up
with as many games as possible and providing interesting commentary.
I give big thanks to John as he agreed to do the job at the last minute.
All had a great time and the chatter on 64 was lively and fun.
To make this a better overall tournament report, I'd like all the
authors and spectators to append their favorite tournament annecdotes
to this thread.
The results are at: http://www.taccl.org/ACCAWCRCC/2008ACCA ... sults.html
Finally, I'd like to give big thanks to ICC for providing TD's and to the
TD's themselves for all their timely help.

Bugchess stops Rybka from scoring a perfect 14/14?
Haha, this is just EPIC.

Epic is an understatement..Actually the new bugchess is no wimp, considering that it is still a single CPU engine.Nid Hogge wrote:Bugchess stops Rybka from scoring a perfect 14/14?

huhu that tickles
I have not yet seen the game, but BugChess2 sure was in lucky day, especially on a single CPU machine against an 8-core Rybka.
Thanks to Jon for making that possible

Great tournament and congratulations to you and the participants. My only regret was that it was on ICC, thus excluding me from being able to watch the games live. BTW, where can one get the games?

Thank you very much, Charles, for running this great event ! I had a lot of fun operating Frenzee and Buzz. Such online events are meant for programmers, but they also allow people who are not smart enough to write a chess engine of their own to take part.
My DSL connection went down at the end of round 13 and I had to get back to my old 56K modem and set up a dialup connection in a hurry, just in time for Frenzee to play and win its last game. And fortunately Andrés took care of Buzz.

Why wouldn't you be able to see them? They are unrated games soAlbert Silver wrote:Great tournament and congratulations to you and the participants. My only regret was that it was on ICC, thus excluding me from being able to watch the games live. BTW, where can one get the games?

guests can view them. All you needed was a guest account.
