Just my 2 cents of course, but I think that the opinion of the CC community has no more value than that of Lev Alburt. You want a bunch of extremely weak chess players, experts in computer chess, to judge the playing level of a GM, which is no better than a GM judging machines he knows little about (IMHO).

IMO, the people to ask are the IMs and GMs who play the machines. Ask Dzindzi what he thinks. Ask Kramnik, or Kasparov, or any GM who takes the time to play the machines at slow time controls.

About GM vs. Computers issue, you want to ask one side because the other side cannot speak ?
To avoid a biased answer from the GMs, one has to ask the available statistics instead. Statistics will not tell lies to defend ego.

No. I am confident that the CCC audience, no matter how strong they are in chess, are BETTER experts in terms of man versus machine than an old frustrated man who obviously has no idea of the recent developements and the progress in chess software and in hardware.

I do not understand why we discuss this so much. It should simply be ignored. It does not deserve more attention.

Yes, exactly, point well made.

We /or few unrated chess programmers do know more about computers/their engines than GM's do.

All we need to have is a decent 2200 rated player in team(Rybka team has enough) , beta tester just before the match, an opening book expert, and most important of all MP version and a super-fast computer. Enough to crush any GM's.
