My lucky draw vs. Rybka 3

Post by AdminX »

Here is a game that my system just finished playing on Playchess vs. Rybka 3. By chance we both were using the same opening book, same and same hashtables. My system was a Q6700 however and his a Q6600.

Ted, either I am still an oldschool chess guy or people tend
nowadays to imagine themselves to be what they *use*?
When I clicked on the thread title I really expected _your_
lucky draw against Rybka...not Rybka vs. Rybka :)

BTW did you manually change something in the PGN?
I am asking because the PGN shown gets more and more weird in
the end. The spaces beween depth and time used seem to have
vanished. What GUI was used if I may ask?
(e.g.

Code: Select all

-1.94/172}
instead of

Code: Select all

-1.94/17 2}
and so on)

At least he admits that it was computer assisted.

Hi Stephan

No, I did not change anything except adding the name of my engine next to my handle. This was the way Fritz 11 save the game.

PS: I thought the title would get your attention ... :wink:

It was not even computer assisted, it was computer vs computer. I was watching the game for a while before I even realized that the other engine was Rybka III.

So I posted the game so others could see it's playing style / improvements.

I've seen some games in where Rybka 3 and Rybka 2.3.2a have an equal position in where the game seems dead drawn, then a few moves later Rybka 2.3.2a resigns, in a lost position. It's scary but I don't understand what happens in these games.

I know what you mean ...

[d]1r2kb2/5p2/2bppP1r/2q1p3/1pB1P2p/2P4R/NP2Q1PP/1K3R2 b - - 0 26

In the game posted above, it looked dead even. Until Rybka III came up with a plan to reach this position.

[d]4kb2/5p2/2bppP2/2q1pr2/2B1P2p/rPN2Q1R/1K4PP/3R4 w - - 0 51

Then white's position started to look really weak, with very little in the way of compensation. Before finally reaching this.

[d]8/8/2q5/3pp1k1/8/1R4P1/1K2R3/8 b - - 0 73
