Question to Christophe Théron: future of Chess Tiger

Post by Oscar L »

Hi Mr Théron.

In a recent thread about Rybka node count and so on, you said that Chess Tiger engine was not a priority for you anymore. What does it mean, no more updates?

Then, do you plan to release it for free, such as it happened with Fruit 2.2? With source code? Will you add multicore support before this hypothetical "last release"?

Regards

"It is not a priority for me anymore" means that I'm not working on it anymore at this time. And I do not miss it! Finally! I'm free! :-D

I'm not planning to release anything for free. Even less with source code.

"Last release" will be the name given to version XXXX.YY after my death. That is, at the time of release of XXXX.YY it will not be known that it is the last one. And don't expect a "last" release anytime soon! ;-)

I have no plan for multicore either... Sorry.

But hey... Who knows!..........

OK, thanks for the answers, it is a pity though you will not add MP implementation.

Then, as V. Rajlich calls it referring to his own engine, Chess Tiger code is frozen

Or perhaps as A Cozzie, changing Zappa for Chess Tiger and Iowa for Guadeloupe

Only one copy of the Zappa source code exists in the observable universe today, and that is safely squirreled away in a safe deposit box in the barbarous, provincial depths of rural Iowa, so I couldn't work on it even if I wished to. :D
