Yesterday on PlayChess i saw a conversation that Nalimov's 7 piece tablebases are available to buy but i didn't believe it.
I thought Nalimov's 7 piece haven't been generated yet.
I saw the link and the page of the link actually seems legitimate enough, although i still don't believe about the Nalimov 7 piece tablebases and i think this is a hoax.
And indeed they offer 70 TB(terabytes) of 7 piece Nalimov's endgame tablebases for $500 000 US dollars! A bargain!
They offer also the complete 6 piece Nalimov tablebases as also combinations of 5 piece and 6 piece for a bit expensive prices($20 to $230).
Someone in PlayChess said that he thinks about buying the 7 piece. I didn't know that there are so rich people in PlayChess.
I also don't know what Nalimov thinks about it. It is legal to sell his work in such way or does he know about it?
And had Nalimov's 7 piece been generated? The 70 TB anyway they say in the page....
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....
To me that looks like the site from Vegan. He was banned from winboard forum for his rather weird commercial ventures..and no I dont think he is reliable. By the way, he is charging you in advance for the 7 piece tablebases that might become available in the future.

maybe Bil Gates will purchase them....
I wonder why he doubled the prize. At the time he got banned from winboard forum, the price was only a quarter million bucks, and I had already started the printer. Unfortunately my printer doesnt have the capacity to print anymore than 1/4 million dollars, so until I figure out a fix..

Tony is right, the guy is banned from the Winboard Forum.
I have informed Nalimov and Kadatsch, they don't seem to mind.

that's because Eugene knows that his publicly-released source won't produce the 7-piece files.

Heh. Isn't it obvious?

It will take a huge effort to create the 7 piece EGTB's ... probably several thousand computers would have to be hooked up in a "SETI" type setup. I think the idea that they can be sold is $500,000 is silly ... if they are ever available they will most likely be free ... except for all the media required to store all those files. Personally I think that 7 piece EGTB's will be available for the general public ... but not in the format we all know today ... they will probably be bitbases ... and then you would use some kind of Monte Carlo setup where your engine uses information from the bitbases to navigate into a win.
