Hi all,
I am starting a series of test positions from this gorgeous chess book I have to see how the current computer chess software can cope with one of the greatest chess players in human history
101 moves_which leads either to a checkmate,gained material,or lead to a superior position....
One of my aims is to fry your hardware, especialy Majd's octal machine and Ted's quad machine
Position 1:
Bobby Fischer-Larsen Bent
Denver 1971
White's 43rd move....
[D]8/8/3k1pp1/P6p/3K4/6P1/7P/8 w - - 0 1
Solution:43....a6!
Fischer is trying to decoy the black king from the king side and the rest is obvious....
Launch your engines Ladies and Gentlemen and don't forget to swith on your air conditioners

This move looks quite easy. My engine finds it instantly. I guess most engine will...
Yes,you're absolutely right Christophe....
But I want to include all the positions from the book, one by one and believe me,as I post more and more positions,it will get real tough....

Isnt that the book that was first released in 1985?
If so, the guys here that look for test positions have already thrashed those in your book years ago. The best test positions in your book are also in old test suites.
Like Chris said, instant.
Seems the nolot positions are also outdated.
Do you check each GM tournament for new test positions and blunders?
I will see if I have that old book on the shelf. If I do, I will see if I can find a position that challenges todays programs.

Never mind how old is it,it will be fun to post all the 101 positions from this book, are you saying that all the current chess engines will solve all the positions posted here ....
I don't think so and I don't think that there is such thing as "outdated positions".....
I check the new test positions and I collect them in a special database, mostly moves which lead to positional superiority and deep combinations....
I don't care about human blunders which are obvious moves to avoide by the machines....

Hi Dr.,
It seems that 1. h4 is a valid solution too according to Bright (after h4):

Hi Marc,
Yes,but it takes us back to the same direction and that is to send the black king away from the king side....
I personaly prefer Fischer's move,if anything,it's more beautiful
