A marvelous piece of art
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….
when first announced about a year ago the price was supposed to be about 100 Euro but i now i think they will sell for about 150 Euro
which is still amazing
sadly however it will not play very strong chess
only at about 1700 Elo perhaps a bit stronger
as a collector i am trying to decide if i should buy more then one
the last chess playing robot using an arm for piece movement was released over 26 years ago and they are worth several thousands of dollars today
Investing should be an arms length transaction regards

You should definitely do,an excellent investment indeed....
Unfortunately,it's a little bit weak to consider buying one,the price doesn't bother me though....

Hi Steve
Unfortunately, things have gone very quiet on the Novag front.
I think that I advised you that they where sending me a third 2Robot with a calibration software change to test but it hasn't arrived yet and they haven't replied to my last email of about three weeks ago.
I do know that they want it to be 100% before they actually start production but I'm getting a little worried.
I will update you if and when I get any news.

Seems like the arm moves to the initial position quite often while making any move. A bit more intelligence in arm movement would have made it better/faster.

the arm movement returning to a base position after each move...is the same procedure as for thier first Robot..the Novag Adversary released in 1982
some videos of it here(scroll down until you get to the Robot section ): http://www.zanchetta.net/echecs/default ... gRobot.htm

Hi Steve and Anil,
There is almost certainly a sensor that detects when the arm is at home base, and by returning frequently to base the robot can make sure the arm doesn't gradually migrate off target.

I understand this point. But, I still feel that the same objective could/should have been achieved at the start and end of every move, instead of returning 2-3 times during each move.
Even now, it looks pretty impressive. I wonder, whether I can see it in action in India anytime soon.
