I was shocked to see they made Nigel Short 2655 play against an 11-year old kid Shar Gagare 2070 wearing a winter hat??-!! Why do they want to insult Nigel like that??!!
I am not, I only wish they let Gagare,Shar (2070) have the white pieces.

First, 8...Kf8 is very reasonable
Second, Black had a decent slightly worse position until around move 36.
Third, in the picture there no gun pointing at Short, so I don't think anybody made him play. The fact that the tournament was Swiss System must have been known to Short before he travelled from Athens to India in order to play.
I think it is great that a man of his caliber plays younger or more inexperienced players. Just how many times to starting out players get to meet world champions much less get a chance to play them. I only wish that more of these great players would do the same.

I think world champion challenger would be more appropriate - unfortunately it did seem that losing that match put Nigel off his stride for 10 years!
Once upon a time Nigel was 'that 11 year old lad' and his opponents on club match nights (at Atherton) or in weekend competitions although not quite so auspicious were usually in for a tough time.
