trouble building book with polyglot

Post by Hart »

When I am building a book with polyglot I get a lot of errors like "malformed tag" and was looking for a tool that would correct my pgns or even remove games with incorrect tags. Somebody suggested pgnextract and I gave it a try. I did not have any success with it and it's not even clear to me if I am using the correct switches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Jim Ablett's website and get this file: Jim's PGN
Cleanup Toolkit v1.2

Here's master Jim's page: http://homepages.tesco.net/henry.ablett/jims.html

Try also Norm Pollock's tool package. I think the link is also at Jim's page!

Sorry if I can't give you specific tools but I hope this helps. I also use othe tools like normal32, pgntrim, etc. to try and fix some pgn tags. Make sure you know how the files work on some OS. I usuallly use different OS as some won't work on Win64. Please use Fonzy's newcompile as it is much faster and stable than the old GCC compile. Goodluck!

Malformed tag? Probably etc. "tournament, 90'+30"" (GUI Fritz). Or "Memorial "xxx" ".
Other concept is probe import to SpikeBookBuilder -> wiev error and edit notepad.
Error PGN wiev have ChessPad.
