Hi Graham,
IIRC,Ray had chatted once with Chessmaster's author and he told him that it's safe to use the engine as a MP with ponder off even though it reserves one of the processors until the other engine require it....so actauly it's safe to use it for example running on a dual machine facing another MP engine with ponder off of course
