I am looking for a good chess program and gui, particularly one that has different levels and plays somewhat like a human (if that is possible). i would also love to find a tactical training program for iphone. Can you folks please make recommendations and share your experiences?

There are not many programs out there for Iphone, let alone they play "somewhat like a human".ozziejoe wrote:I am looking for a good chess program and gui, particularly one that has different levels and plays somewhat like a human (if that is possible). i would also love to find a tactical training program for iphone. Only news I have heard for that platform is the version of Chess Genius, which I think will have many different levels but it certainly doesn't play like human (atleast the PC version doesn't)

Ok, i've just purchased caissa chess for only 6 bucks.
this engine/gui is not too bad. It has a simple, easy-to-use interface, and offers a good range of playing strength (it is hopeless at level 1 to 3, but gets pretty decent by level 9). It does not allow you to play with a timer, as far as I can tell, but i suppose you could force yourself to play within a particular time limit. The engine moves pretty quickly at level 9 which means you won't have to wait.
I would say it is well worth the price

I have Caissa Chess and it's a great program. The latest update lets you email the game in pgn so you can analyze it with your desktop software. It plays plenty strong enough for me. The board and pieces look very good. The developers have a website where you can put in a request for new features, etc.
I'll get Chess Genius when it comes out also.
