I managed to find Fortran source code to a simple Chess Program (19.6kb) that when compiled with gfortran appears to actually work... unfortunately this source code
does not contain a name and I do not know its history...
Although I understand Fortran well enough, there are certain aspects of the Chess
Source that are puzzling, for example the radically different values given to the Queens, when all other peices are a given value with a change of sign,
and I do not completely understand the actual chess-playing make-move code but
I would love to learn how it does work.
I have a complete 78-move log I saved with a game against my Excalibur Portable
Chess Computer... at level 6 it won by virtue of having more peices on the board in the
end, and instead of just moving in to win, it kept allowing the Fortran Chess program
to just run itself all over the board... the log is helpful to see the behavior of both
Chess Engines. Many interesting opportunities were missed, yet the two programs
did manage some insightful moments.
****** I am most interested in finding other C, Fortran, and Pascal Chess Source
files as well
If you would like to exchange Chess Source Code, game logs, etc., I'd love to
hear from you... RadSurfer@yahoo.com
*** I am interested in finding Instructional Chess Videos which are freely available to
the public without charge or copyright infringement.
I can also be reached on AIM using 'DigitalDTVKing' (I enjoy over-the-air
digital TV and do not waste money on cable-tv).
Thank you.
