However I think your 1.6.3 got lucky (or 1.6.2 unlucky) since your numbers are far more optimistic than what I got after 20000 games : a more modest 60 elo gain (+35 search & eval changes, +25 offline book learning). One difference is that i test with very fast games. Let us hope it scales very well...

I do prefer your numbers though

Maybe I was exaggerating about 160- 180 elo gain. Maybe little more than yours, Ie ~ 80-100 elo maybe more accurate. But either way, it's indeed a big improvement. Time for Bughchess MP and all that I think..
