Steve
Not seen these before.
A couple of new cheap and nasty LCD units but model 714 shown in the following link looks good value at $40 for a ELO1700 computer and appears to be designed slightly on the Phantom Force.

Did you know about this regards

Pardon me for interrupting, but I am excited about this. Seems to be a new Excalibur, stronger than my Alexandra and Chess de Luxe hand-held and the price is peanuts....
BTW, it is available in several chess stores
I wonder if ASteve could give us more info. He has private comm. with Ron Nelson.

Sadly i think Sir Bryan is correct
i have seen these on their site for about a month now
i do not have any exact information but i think they are just the same versions as the other lower rated LCD Excaliburs
as to the 1700 computer in the Phantom force housing
remember thats a 1700 USCF estimate and it is by the company
this translates down to about 1400-1500 ELO
my guess is it has a King Arthur program and not even the DTTC program which is stronger
nothing new under the sun regards

What a pity. These guys are just changing the plastic box and the name of the contrivances, nothing else.
I consider The Elders should take some kind of action.
Perhaps a two pages insert in NYT.
Or Mr. Samole should be brought to Justice.
My gorillas are already on the way rgards

i am sure Nelson is not happy about this selling the same old stuff over and over in different housingsfern wrote:What a pity. These guys are just changing the plastic box and the name of the contrivances, nothing else.
he is after all the head chess programmer for Excalibur
sadly i have still not heard back from him regarding the clock speed and language options for Alexandra which i asked him about a week ago
he might be bound and gagged and held hostage by the Marketing Dept. over at Excalibur
the Elders have already dispatched an Israeli Rescue Party..
