Yes, the publication of Fruit 2.1 was huge. Look at how many engines took a massive jump in its wake: Rybka, Hiarcs, Fritz, Zappa, Spike, List, and so on. I went through the Fruit 2.1 source code forwards and backwards and took many things.
Ok still waiting for some programmer with the motivation and energy to get some ideas from Rybka program. Your sales will increase, you can go full commercial, Chessbase will pick you up, everyone will want your program, you will get a lot of negative publicity, you may be able to quit your street cleaning day job and work on your program full time, you might even offer your first release, after Rybka ideas, as free. You will get your own dedicated forum, your program might be the only program at Playchess, all other programmers will wonder what you did overnight, you will win many tournaments, everyone else will try to pry out your ideas, you will have many new friends.
Now see it will be worth it.

some tips for your new commercial program
1. each call to MakeMove(), or as an alternative, each call to Search()/Quiesce(), is a node. If you use this definition to count kns, just divide by 5 and show this final number as true node count, or kns.
2. Also anything that has been traditionally established as a "Chess Program", feel free to modify it in any way. For example, you can block all analysis read out to the user and only show the final position without a score, time, depth, analysis etc...
3. You do not have to tell the customer ahead of the sale what you have modified, programs now sell to the customer "as-is" or "anything goes".
4. Anything you can do to your program that will draw attention away from what you really want to hide from other programmers, will work for some. If you have a secret to protect, try to draw attention away from your attempt to hide that secret. For example, if you are trying to distract others from your search code, modify the kns to show a reduciton of 5x.
5. also in this chess program world it has been decided that to use anothers source, you just cannot copy and paste. You can copy, scramble the code a little, add a little, reduce a little, and you are good to go commercial. $$$$$$$$$
just make sure it is not American dollars---US is bankrupt.

1. Who are you? I hope you are not some kind of chess Al Capone.Osipov Jury wrote:I already went through the Rybka 3 source code forwards and backwards and took many things.
2. Where is your original work? Have you won any CC tournament with a legitimate program?
3. You are lucky to have escaped with what you did, when I would have favored action through the criminal justice system to track you right up to your IP address.

LawnBot
Hello Mr. Osipov Jury from Russia,
I assume Mr. Enrico Amoco did not read what Vas said. Maybe he is just kidding. Not sure. I also went through Rybka source code forwards and backwards and took many things. I used most of what I took in my LawnBot So far it mows my lawn really well but the motor over revs and the tach readout says about 3 rpm. Still working on bugs.
