Hard disk and multiple tournanaments

In a tournanament the GUI and both engines may be profusely writing to or reading from hard disk. Is this unhealthy for the disk ?
Is this worse with Ponder = ON ?
Is running multiple tournanaments simultaneously even a crime punishable by loss of hard disk ?
Does it help to use virtual machines for simultaneous tournanaments ?
