Detecting draw positions: is this idea old , new or nuts?

Post by Jouni »

I wonder if this is possible to implement to engine? Consider endgame position and engine output:

21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3 Bh1 25.Kb5
± (1.17) Depth: 21 00:00:03 50kN, tb=138
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 22 00:00:05 80kN, tb=220
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 23 00:00:07 109kN, tb=341
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 24 00:00:10 152kN, tb=497
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 25 00:00:15 207kN, tb=713
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 26 00:00:19 272kN, tb=985
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 27 00:00:25 371kN, tb=1387
21.Be2 Bh1 22.Bh5 Bc6 23.Bf7 Bf3 24.Bb3
± (1.17) Depth: 28 00:00:32 485kN, tb=1893

If there is no progress, can engine simply change score to dead draw 0,00! Of course with suitable conditions may be about number of pieces or similar. Is this possible?
