Test position

Post by glorfindel »

A position from a recent blitz game. Not very difficult for most engines I guess, but some don't seem to find it immediately.

If you don't specify the side to move, the FEN will not be rendered.

That's a nice one, most programs take some time to solve it due to pruning after the queen sac. You likely played it speculatively, since you forgot to play Rh1.

Yes, perhaps you are right that some engines might prune the sacrifice and this is what delays them. Because there are other engines that find it in 2 seconds, so it is not very deep. I have a very strong engine here using two threads that needs 30 sec to play Qxg6.

I did not forget to play Rh1, this was my initial plan, but then I saw dxe7 could be played with tempo and so I was diverted. It turned out to lose a tempo, because Black played ...Rc8. Anyway, this is a blitz game, so by definition it is speculative, and it cannot really stand to be analyzed seriously.

Good test.........Thanks...!

Hiarcs 11.2 finds Qxg6 right away...and keeps it there.

Ruffian also finds it quickly but soon changes to Qh3....
