Hello computerchessfriends,
the URL http://slibo.sourceforgenet describes Slibo with "....provides its own chess engine, too". Each time when I want to install KDE (Linux) on my PC , I have a crash-down. It is a "native" chess program or can it be embedded into other Linux-GUI´s as WinBoard-engine? What do you think?
Unfortunately, I cannot see there any address with e-mail-support.
Best wishes,
Morbert

Re: chess GUI Slibo own engine
the correct URL is http://slibo.sourceforge.net
Re: chess GUI Slibo own engine
If the links at the bottom of the page are anything to go by (to crafty, xboard/winboard) then I would think there is a high probability that the interface between the engine and GUI uses xboard, and therefore any xboard-compliant engine could be used.
I will compile it tonight under Fedora 10 (gnome) on my home PC and see... it looks very nice - thanks for the heads-up.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: chess GUI Slibo own engine
The gui looks like one of those projects that got a good start, but ended up being unmaintainable due to bad design and somewhat messy code. The engine is ANSI C for the most part, so it shouldn't be unreasonably hard to port it for Windows.
