I already commented some. It's 3 months now before world champs. Very short period of time.
We know basically that David decided to have a 8 core limit.

It is very short time to approach sponsors now also for the participants. Last time i remember having heard something from someone from the USA it was start 21th century, something like: "we wanted to organize a world champs and if it had a cost ourselves of half a million no problem for the university, but 70000 dollar 'organisation costs' to be paid to ICCA (nowadays ICGA) in Europe, that killed the entire setup of the plan, as this university has a very strict financial control on costs and payments to ICGA from which we do not know what ICGA is doing with the money, get seen as a bribing fee here and are not allowed therefore when organizing events".

Hi David, please answer quickly question D if you feel the other questions take a tad longer:

a) why was i taken off the ICGA mailing list for certain mailings?
Several emails from Joke "suddenly" did not reach me but reached others
b) what is the status of the players meeting in 2009?
c) how many participants have indicated to join in case there is a 8 core limit and to NOT join in case there is not?
So far i counted 0 there
d) To avoid infinite delays on which hardware is allowed and is not. Let's make this a simple multiple choice now on what hardware is allowed and not allowed according to the proposed 8 core limit, time is running out to even BUY new hardware. It already HAS to come from a sponsor in case i would join, as my oldie 4 core k8 box, it was already quite outdated against the 8 core skulltrails.
Shouldn't be hard to get a beckton chip from intel, though it's under NDA currently, so unreachable hardware for most. I expect the chip to have a cost of 7500 dollar a piece or so. If you buy 1000 from intel that is. So forget about getting it for 10k pound or so. Same would be true for junior.

d7) Intel itanium Tukwila, 2 sockets (8 cores in total, still under NDA)
d8) cluster with in total 8 cores, consisting out of 4 machines dual core
d9) cluster with in total 8 cores, consisting out of 2 quadcore machines (see d1)
d10) using 8 cores from a dunnington machine (of which 2 joined in world champs 2008 already), box has 24 cores
d11) using 40 cores from a 4 socket beckton system equipped with in total 64 logical cores (was in 2008 under NDA, still is,
presentation of that box is a few days from now)
d12) using 8 cores from a beckton quad socket system (32 cores, 64 logical cores)
d13) using 8 cores from an AMD shanghai system (16 cores in total)
d14) single FPGA card
d15) cluster having in total 8 fpga cards and doing the calculations onto this card
d16) 8 core Larrabee (ignoring counting the cpu's if you run onto larrabee, larrabee gets marketed by intel as a manycore,
though you can find online postings from me calling it a vector processor)
d17) in case beckton not allowed @ 16 logical cores, what if in bios HT (hyperthreading) gets turned off, is it allowed?
d18) CELL1 or CELL2 single socket (8 cores)
d19) to make the list complete a Sun Niagara 8 core processor

Please very simple: "yes allowed, no not allowed BECAUSE"
