Open source Shogi system

Post by Dann Corbit »

For those who are interested, it is Bonanza 4.0.4
http://cap.connx.com/chess-engines/new- ... onanza.zip

50 MB, so only download it if you actually intend to do something with it.

Many thanks Dann. I've forgotten about it! I've always monitored its development here: http://www.geocities.jp/bonanza_shogi/
And there's also a shogi archive which I couldn't manage to read as I had problems translating the Japanese web scripts before here: http://www.computer-shogi.org/

Many thanks too Charles for the english version. I'll set time to venture on this board game.

It's sad that there are only a few Shogi engines: Laramie, Spear, ssp, Tshogi and Bonanza -I don't know the rest except for gnushogi. I was waiting for Tords Shogi GUI as 'Shogidokoro" seems to be in Japanese version. Anyway, it will take a while to be acquainted with computershogi. I'll have to play this game more often on my spare time. I'm more of inclined to play Gomoku than this one :D!

Ooops! I just downloaded the new Shogidokoro (counterpart of Arena in chess) and the GUI is in English! and your English link sent me to a lot of engines too. Thanks a lot. I'm going to test Bonanza on the new Spear engine as well.

Bonanza does not run in that interface {yet}. It is not a USI engine. Spear does run under Shogidokoro.

Here is a thread about a contest I ran under Shogidokoro:

Sad that it isn't USI compliant. At least Spear, LesserKai, TJshogi and Laramie are some engines to test. Of the 4, I think the latest Spear is the best!

From the English translation of this link: http://www.geocities.jp/shogidokoro/enginelink.html , it says a protocol conversion software (u2b.exe ) may be useful to make bonanza work in Shogidokoro.

You'll get it in this package:
http://www.geocities.jp/shogi_depot/PetitShogi.zip

I'll test it after I sleep.

thanks.

Denis.
