Rybka is not in the poll, It will obviously finish in the first placing anyway.Just wanted to see how other engines fare in terms of expectations. I certainly don't want Bright to keep the burden of carrying higher expectations.

I think it's pretty difficult to predict. Ikarus and Diep certainly can pull in a surprise. After all for what we know, Ikarus(?) had won the blitz world champs once and Diep finished 3rd IIRC. Latest TwistedLogic seems to be better than the most commercials. It's playing well at ICC too.

Generally, Underdog could be a favorite in tournament play whether it is computer tournament or human one. I would like to consider Ktulu an underdog, the only major con it isn't MP but I think Ktulu might do very well. I'm tuning the opening book that will be used for Glaurung & Ktulu, i wouldn't be suprised to see Ktulu win or draw a top commercial program also same could very well be said for Glaurung

Since Bright is going to play in a 32 bit Q6600, I don't have high expectations for the engine. Blame the hardware rather than the engine I'd say
Ikarus is vastly underrated, Diep also. Understandable that private engines wouldn't be that popular even when they win official tourneys before.

We will see. Bright is new addition to CCT tournament and it's going to be a challenging engine in the tournament. I agree with Ikarus it is underrated and Diep could very well surprise many as well, since it's going to be played under 8 cores it is a plus!
Still, i think Glaurung and perhaps the underdog Ktulu could surprise some. I also think Fruit & Thinker will be a serious challenge for Rybka, I wouldn't count out Glaurung

We shouldn't forget Weid. It's totally unknown to many but when you research its history you'd find that it had some excellent record in the previous CCT's IIRC.
Btw, please pm me when you go online tomorrow, we could chat via yahoo messenger before the tourney starts. I may need some help on which commands to use and how to configure and use tools in chess partner. Thanks!
