Recently I bought and won a used Shredder 6 program on Ebay...
It installed just fine.......but the engine will only compute to 2 ply.
Am I doing something wrong?
Can this be fixed?......
Just wondering...
Sorry, I do not know much about chess engines or programing....etc.

Shredder 6 needs a patch, this is a well known bug. Either someone here has it or maybe ChessBase has it archived, write them and ask.

I don't see it on that page. Shredder 6 is from 2001.

The link works for me. Have to choose Shredder 6 from the dropdown box.

Doh! I missed it, you're right...I overlooked the dropdown menu.
Damn you can't directly link to the page but the actual downloads should link. The first is for Shedder 6 and the second for Shredder 6 Classic.

Thanks for the replies...but when I try to download them into the Shredder 6 program..........I get a "this file already exists" notice...etc.

If you downloaded the files to your desktop and then double-clicked them, etc. and got the "already exist" message, I would install them.

Hi Charles....thanks for your help and also the others too..
I got the engines downloaded and installed okay...but now it wants the CD program of
Sherdder 6.02....(before they will run)....
If I can find it, and it is the right one...I will be okay...I hope...

2. Run the shredderupdate.exe. If you haven't changed the path it should be C:\program files\chessbase\engines
