The 2100 is the suggested elo right? What year did this first appear and how accurate is the 2100 elo rating? I recall a chess computer from radio shack that had 2100 in its name---I dont think it was really 2100.
Of course if the 2100 isnt the suggested elo---one gets the impression that it is. I think it was only natural that companies exaggerated the elo to enhance sales. The first computer (commercially) that had a master rating probably had sales through the roof. yes???
the Fidelity EAG 2100 was released in 1986
it contains the very popular Par Excellence program which achieved a USCF Chess Computer Rating Agency rating of 2100 USCF
The USCF CC rating agency has been defunct now for many years
the actual rating in terms of ELO is 1831 as shown by Selective Search Computer Chess Magazine
the first commercially available chess computer to ever achieve a USCF Masters Rating of >2200 USCF was the Fidelity Excel Mach III Master
it received this rating after achieving a performance rating of 2265 at the 1988 World Open in Philadelphia
it played 48 games against players with an Avg. USCF rating of 2172
it scored 26 wins,15 losses and 7 draws
anyone purchasing a Mach III Master received this official certificate:
the Mach III Masters ELO is 1984(Selective Search)
Well i guess i was right in that it did not sell for $1250
but an offer was made for $1000 and accepted by the seller!
i would have made the same prediction even at a $1000 "Buy Now" price that it would not sell
especially during this Economy??
