Hiarcs and Polyglot

Post by Peter Skinner »

I am having a slight problem with Polyglot and Hiarcs 12.1MP.

When using it online, it logs in fine and plays fine. What is doesn't do is use it's own opening book, but it used to.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything a hundred times, so maybe someone can spot what I am doing wrong.

Here is my Hiarcs.ini file for Polyglot:

[PolyGlot]
EngineName = Hiarcs 12.1 MP
EngineDir = D:\Chess\Hiarcs
EngineCommand = Hiarcs12.1MPUCI.exe

Log = false
LogFile = hiarcs.log
KibitzMove = true
KibitzCommand = kibitz

[Engine]
Hash = 256
NalimovPath = D:\Chess\Crafty\tb
NalimovCache = 32
OwnBook = true
Book Style = Tournament
Hyper-Modern Play = True
Tablebase Depth = 4

All my paths are correct, so I really don't know what is wrong. I am of course using this setup with Winboard. Whatever version is latest from the Winboard Forums.

Anyone have a clue? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Figured it out.

There was something wrong with the installer, so after redownloading it and installing, everything is fine.

I had lots of trouble with this too, eventually arriving at the same solution.

I don't think I ever successfully achieved getting it to use the book in some other location. Pity, because I really hate where the installer puts it. [And everything else, for that matter]
