Hi,
I have just found a page where someone translated Arena into Japanese. I don't know if it is complete or not. I didn't get any message from the person who did this. So if we have any Japanese people around they might take a look and tell us... Thanks.
I almost forgot the link:

If I get an answer and the permission I will add this to our page. Because we do need a permission... to add somebody elses work to our page, don't we...

Re: Arena in Japanese
I cannot imagine anyone with a public web page who does not want to be linked to. In fact, people often spend money on this to increase their page rank and search engine score.
Google would not exist if they had to ask permission to every web page on the planet.
If someone did not want anyone to link to their page, they probably should not have a publically accessible url.

Linking to a web page does not require permission does it? Which law would it violate if you did it? Certainly not copyrights; you don't copy anything.

Hi,
I meant the language file. But it seems he is just editing Arena to judge from what I see there. There seams to be no language file.
It seems he did the same for Winboard too if you look at the screenshots.
What I was wondering why so many non Japanese speaking people looked at the thread. Strange.

Re: Arena in Japanese
Natural curiosity, and I am glad I did. He must indeed have been editing sources; the WinBoard menu can only be changed by editing the resource file, as it is all hard-coded. Too bad the guy did not translate the WinBoard version that supports Shogi...Michael Diosi wrote:What I was wondering why so many non Japanese speaking people looked at the thread. Strange.

You assume I cannot speak JapaneseMichael Diosi wrote: What I was wondering why so many non Japanese speaking people looked at the thread. Strange.

I think it is worthwhile to have a language file for hard coded menus otherwise it will be hard to maintain 2 versions of the program.
